On the beautiful island of Roatan in the Caribbean of Honduras you may enjoy the learning of windsurfing like you never dreamed. Amazing warm crystal turquoise waters in a flat and quiet sea protected by the second largest reef in the world surrounding the island are your "court" for your first steps learning this superb sport.
Nothing to worry about. Not a a wave to bother your concentration. Not a shark to put you nervous while you sail on these pristine waters. No need to swim because you'll learn everything you need to know on the soft sand while the sun -under the protection of a 30 spf sunscreen (or probably 45)- kill all those city bugs you're carrying on your skin. Besides, the water level will barely reach your waist.

Learning to Windsurf.. Today

Not too long ago to try to windsurf was something not that simple to do.
The boards were bigger, narrower, more unstable and very much heavier. The sails were more like a piece of cloth instead than the "wings" they are today, very light and easy to handle. The masts were thicker, heavier and longer.
So the act of lifting the sail was not easy at all.
In summary, to do windsurfing on those times required to be courageous besides to have some talent for brutality, skills for suffering and a certain ability for masochism.
Today, the whole game of learning to windsurf is just a pleasure. Everything is light and easy.
The boards we have for instruction are ridiculously stable and comfortable even for a guy with lots of pounds and 0 connection with other adventure besides the play station.
The modern sails are so light that kids of 7 are sailing today. And we have all the sizes according to your height and weight.
Our masts for a regular sail can weight something as absurd as 2 pounds!
These, besides our teaching expertise, are good reasons why you should learn to windsurf here in Roatan.
The school is located within the perfect spot in the island for the practice of windsurfing.

Oh, the Pirates!

Roatan has been subdued by different countries, races, cultures and, of course, Pirates.
This romantic and naive view of pirates robbing the rich merchants as Johnny Depp would do, has nothing to do with the stark reality that these guys were the terrorists of that time. According to certain statistics, pirates were awfully rude and violent, disgusting, ignorant, stinky, drunks, murderers, rapers, etc., etc.

Those beasts loved to explore the world and become automatically owners of any property where they put their feet on, call it country, town, island, cay, or any other place where they could drink, steal, rape, eat and defecate (and not exactly in the same order)
They were very well known for their unacceptable manners for talking (&%º¿Ç*), eating (like hyenas), drinking? (swallowing like pigs!) and making love (f…) like mandrills (but among 50 of them)
Pirates loved the black colour and they had huge collections of bones and skulls to scare their enemies. They buried the treasures they stole and in order to save the secret they also buried the guys who did the job, but kept the parrot alive because he will remember to tell the captain where to dig some years from there.
You see? There is always a bird in the middle.

Paddle Tennis

We have built the only Single Paddle Tennis Court that exist in the island.
In case you haven't played Paddle Tennis, let me tell you that it is a lovely outdoors game, very easy to learn and play but very challenging and competitive. Lots of fun and lots of exercise.
Is a small court of 13 mts. long by 5.5 mts. wide with walls at the back and sides of each player. You play it like tennis and it has the same rules. You may hit the walls in order to put the ball on the side of your opponent.
The racquets are made of glass & carbon fiber, and the core is cover by layers of a rubber known as Eva. The balls are very similar to the tennis ones and you can play with both types.
If you like racquet sports I can guarantee that you are going to have a lot of fun
